Learn Drum kit, Percussion skills, Rhythm reading, Beatboxing, Body percussion, and explore contemporary drum styles.

The workshop will centre around the drum circle, where we learn about the importance of rhythm and pulse. Led by Drum Shorts Sebastian Jezzi and Rockjam creator Baz Rycraft, the students will take part in Drums stick workouts, Melodic percussion songs, Electronic Music, Body Percussion and Drum patterns on acoustic kit where 5 Drum Etudes will form the basis of our final day when we perform for parents. 

Suitable for ages 8 - 12. No experience necessary, but the workshop will benefit all levels of ability. We will supply all equipment needed, but students are welcome to bring their own drum sticks, percussion instruments or cymbals.

Sebastian Jezzi is a very experienced Music Educator who has worked with Rockjam for the last 9 years. He has taught drums and percussion to schools, clubs and camps across Dublin. Sebastian is from Argentina and is an expert in South American Rhythms as well as a Degree in Jazz Performance. He has toured and recorded extensively with a wide range of bands. He specialises in teaching young musicians and his Drum Shorts Programme has encouraged children across Ireland to take up the drums.

Baz Rycraft is the Director of Rockjam. He is a Jazz Double Bassist and Educator, working with Primary and Secondary school children for over 25 years. Baz has created many contemporary music programmes such as Ukulele Licence, Drum Shorts, DCU All star band and of course, Rockjam!
